Communication
Effective communication is crucial in attaining the results we seek to achieve.
Language doesn’t only enable us to talk about things; it can also make them happen. As a result language is action and it generates and creates realities. When we speak we model the future for ourselves and for others.
A company is a network of conversations, requests and offers which give rise to commitments. Managers create value for their organisations by means of the conversations they hold.
When our actions are effective and we achieve our goals, this shows that we have conducted our conversations skilfully.
By contrast, when we are unsatisfied with an outcome, when we think that something hasn’t come off or given the hoped-for results, looking back at the conversations we have held will help us to be more effective in the future.
